Hi GIS People!
Still in development as a personal hobby is a mashup with CHCH’s bus routes / bus stops / real ETA bus times to bus stops and the NEW google street view.
Basically the idea is to locate your street either through the ’street finder’ (google geo coder) or zoom / pan around to find your street. Then you can click on the bus icon and Metro’s real time information system will tell you how far away the bus’s for this stop are going to be. You can then add this bus stop to your ‘My Bus Stops’ for the next time you open the web page. The page will then zoom to the bus stop location and display the bus’s ETA to this stop. Also as you zoom / pan around the map, on the left hand side it displays the bus stops that are located on the map as you move. From these links you can also zoom and open the real time information.
But there’s more … With google opening up New Zealand with street view you can now also view the street that the bus stop is located on to check see if you have the right location. Very cool, well done google.
Whaddyathink?
We should have it going for a Xmas delivery. Stay tuned.
Cheers
Coomsie

Nice, good move. Now thats using your data. I like the blog to update external users also…
Hi,
Do you have an email address I could use to communicate with you?
I have been toying around with some ideas regarding the use of the Metro bus stop, route and scheduling information.
Looking at the mash up you’ve created it seems I’ve been experimenting with essential the same sources of data. In my prototypes I’ve been screenscraping some content off http://rtt.metroinfo.org.nz for example.
I would love to find out the correct licensing / commercial restrictions around this data etc and who I should be talking to about accessing it. By the sounds it you may be able to point me in the right direction.
Thanks.
